Hyundai Motor announced on May 5 that it will collaborate with carpool service company 'LUXI' and carpool algorithm and system. This means that Hyundai will enter the rapidly growing vehicle sharing service market in the era of autonomous driving. This strategic alliance will be conducted through Hyundai's project iOnic, a future mobility research project.
Luxi has 200,000 registered vehicles and 780,000 members in domestic carpool service start-ups. Since the start of the business in earnest last year, more than 4 million carpools have been completed. Hyundai Motor has invested KRW 5 billion in August in recognition of the growth potential of its vehicle sharing business model.
Through joint research, the two companies have decided to build an integrated response system for future mobility and future fusion technologies such as autonomous navigation and artificial intelligence.
Hyundai will start a demonstration program called 'Make my car into a carpool neighbor' with Lux and recruit participants from the 5th. Participants in the program will be able to purchase the Ionic Hybrid as a lease through Hyundai Capital's dedicated channel counseling service, provide a carpool service when commuting, and use the revenues generated there to redeem the vehicle-less rate.
Carpools are available from Monday to Friday, from 5 am to 11 pm, from 5 pm to 2 am the next day. Luxi carries out the overall operation of the carpool program, including carpool matching, fare settlement.
If you want to participate in the program, you can fill out and submit the application form on the dedicated website (www.ioniq-luxi.com). Workers who commute to and from Seoul and Gyeonggi area, where the carpool is activated, will be selected first.
The two companies will cooperate in the process of developing future innovative technologies such as 'Robot Cab' and 'Unmanned Delivery Vehicle', which utilize autonomous driving and artificial intelligence to drive passengers without drivers.
